The AP Conference

"The Alternative Provision Conference" was held in Leeds at the Marriott Hotel in June 2024 and aimed to address several challenges in the education sector concerning AP by equipping educators with new and innovative approaches. The conference focused on overcoming the barriers to learning that can arise from mental health issues, behavioural challenges, lack of resources, and staffing difficulties.

The one-day program provided attendees with more knowledge about alternative provision and offered practical guidance on implementation. A diverse group of expert speakers shared their insights, including John Murphy, who chaired the event, Shaheen Myers, Ashfaq Khan and many others.

School leaders and educational experts also delivered engaging speeches and seminars on specific topics such as:

  • Transforming attendance challenges
  • Integrating positive behaviour reinforcement
  • Tackling EBSA and supporting SEND students
  • Building bridges with parents and families
  • Examining the SEND & AP Improvement Plan
  • Trauma-informed approaches
  • Using AP to support a school's budget
  • Integrating an effective internal AP

The conference was designed for a wide range of professionals involved in education, including school leaders, CEOs, SLT & teachers, SEND teachers, governors, local authorities, and designated safeguarding leads, as well as alternative provision leaders.  Please fill in the form if you want to receive further information regarding our national alternative provision conference. Dates will be confirmed soon.
