Deputy Head of Teaching & Learning
In sixth form, I completed A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. Having a keen interest in the science of the human body, I then went on to study Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield.
After gaining my degree, I decided that I wanted to teach science to help inspire the next generation of scientists. I trained to become a teacher by working in schools across South Yorkshire, whilst completing a PGCE in secondary science with QTS at Sheffield Hallam University.
Once qualified, I then worked in secondary schools with students from Y7 to Y13, teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I am now working at EDClass, where I create online science lessons and provide subject-specialist support to learners who are working online.

Laura Charlton
Online Teacher
Hi, I’m Laura – an English teacher here at EDClass. I loved English at school and studied both Language and Literature at A Level.
At University I worked on English Studies and also have a minor award in Creative Writing.
I have been a teacher since 2005 and have taught in the UK and in Australia. I love reading, love writing, love films, I love to travel and I love to talk about English! If you want a book recommendation – great. If you want a suggestion for something creative to write about – even better! I particularly enjoy writing short stories and poetry.
After working in my last school for 12 years, I started at EDClass in 2024. EDClass is great because I get to teach English in lots of different and exciting ways, as well as being able to have great conversations with learners and help people to achieve their goals. I also love it as sometimes we get to work on different subjects together too and share some interests, which is what makes EDClass amazingly different to the classrooms people are used to.
I look forward to meeting you and hope that you enjoy your English lessons with us in the future.

Hi, I’m Scott, I’ve worked with EDClass creating content for about 8 years now and have been creating science videos for the last 2.
I’ve been a Science & Maths teacher for around 18 years at: A SEMH specialist residential secondary school; Two mainstream schools, (teaching GCSE sciences, A Level physics and AS maths); An FE college teaching access to HE science, level 1 and 2 maths and GCSE resit science classes; An MLD/SpLD 6-19 special school for students with both physical and neurological learning needs.
Despite my specialism, the nature of my roles means I have also been fortunate enough to teach a range of other subjects such as PSHE, Sport, cookery, DT, history, and RE up to KS3 level, so I’m lucky to have a broad overview of the national curriculum and how the subjects interconnect.

Jane Goodison
Online Teacher
Hello, I am Jane one of the English teachers here at EDClass. I have been teaching for over 30 years in Hampshire, Surrey, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire.
One of my specialisms is neurodiversity. I have lots of experience, within my own family and, teaching neurodivergent learners.
I love helping people to find a way to overcome challenges so that they are confident to tackle the next challenge. When you have experienced that lightbulb moment and you understand your learning, it gives you the confidence to go looking for more challenges.
I am dyslexic myself so I understand how hard reading and spelling can be for learners. One of the ways that helped me was finding something that I wanted to read. As a result, I am an avid reader now and I am known for carrying an emotional support book with me wherever I go!
The book that I am carrying with me at the moment is one that I am using here at EDClass to create some lessons. There will be an opportunity to hear stories read to you so that you can find something that you enjoy – so look out for those on the platform and we can share a story together!
I teach:
- English Functional Skills
- English Language
- English Literature

Paul Kent
Online Teacher
Before working in education I worked within the security industry, wanting to do something during the day I started to work as a learning mentor.
Now with over 16 years experience of working in education, my career started working within pastoral care specialising in extreme behaviours and removing barriers to learning, whilst working as a non-teaching Head of Year.
Whilst Head of Year I was asked to take a Year 11 Maths group who were labelled un-teachable. Upon taking this role I found that the students simply required a different approach, focusing on building strong relationships and finding different ways for them to learn. Once in the classroom I realised that I could be more help to the students teaching rather than in my role within the pastoral care team.
I worked within a Maths department developing my subject knowledge whilst continuing to work with difficult groups. Taking an unconventional route into teaching I completed a degree in education and professional development receiving a 2:1 from Huddersfield University.
At EDClass I try to continue to make Maths more accessible and support students who use a different platform.

Jennifer Marsh
Online Teacher
Hello, I am Jenny – an Art teacher here at EDClass. I have always loved being creative and knew that I wanted to do something arty.
I wasn’t one of those kids who are naturally amazing at drawing. I had to practice, practice and practice some more.
Everyone can learn how to draw – confidence and practice is the key. After a 2-year Btec Art and Design course I headed to University to do Textile Design. After 4 wonderful years at university I got a job as a Textile Designer in Manchester.
After a few years there I decided that teaching Art would suit me better – so I studied to be a teacher. That was 30 years ago and I’m still loving teaching art!
I have been lucky enough to teach art in Malaysia, Kuwait, Egypt, Abu Dhabi, China and Malta. I love living in different countries and cultures. I started here at EDClass in August 2024.
I really enjoy having conversations with our learners here at EDClass and also helping them to develop academically and personally. Through teaching art and the other curriculum subjects, I feel that I can support learners to develop important life skills.

Hi, my name is Imogen and I am the PSHE teacher here at EDClass. Once I finished secondary school, I stayed on at my Sixth Form to complete my A-Levels in Film Studies, Psychology and Art.
I have always had a passion to support young learners and guide them through the many changes, whether these be positive or challenging changes, which we encounter throughout our lives. Because of how passionate I was to inspire young people, I went to York St John University and completed my degree in Education Studies to become a teacher.
After graduating, I trained and worked in primary schools across South Yorkshire and taught a wide range of subjects from Maths to Art across Year 1s to Year 6s. This is where I developed my passion for PSHE and supporting young people throughout this subject.
I am now working here at EDClass to create online lessons in PSHE and support learners with their PSHE work. I hope that you will enjoy the lessons I have created for PSHE.

Hi! My name is Sarah and I am a teacher here at EDClass. At college, I studied Psychology, Art, English Literature and Maths.
I continued to study Psychology at the University of Nottingham and, during that time, I also spent some time volunteering in Sri Lanka, teaching children of all ages.
My time in Sri Lanka sparked my interest in teaching and, after completing my teacher training in 2016, I spent many years working in a primary school, teaching and developing the school’s reading curriculum. I am very passionate about reading myself and I also love all things maths and art!
Now, I work here at EDClass, creating online lessons and supporting pupils who are working online.

Hi, I’m Rebecca one of the maths teachers here at EDClass. This is my journey so far. After finishing secondary school, I did A-level maths, general studies and psychology.
While doing this I worked with an LTA tennis coach, coaching tennis to primary children. Following A-Level I went to a university near London. I studied computing and Psychology as I was interested in robotics and artificial intelligence.
While at university I coached badminton and this really cemented my love of teaching. I then went up to Sheffield to study for my PGCE. I have taught in secondary schools for 18 years. I was fortunate enough to work with some primary schools, so I have taught maths from year five to year 13 and psychology in year 12 and year 13.
Next, I joined EDClass and I absolutely love it. I really enjoy talking to students and helping them. I look forward to talking to you or teaching you soon.
