Online Teacher:

Reports to Head of Teaching & Learning 

Duties:

  • Monitor and assist learners with their lessons, clarifying tasks/explaining concepts to aid their progress
  • To ensure learners that are vulnerable for any reason, including issues around mental health, are monitored closely for concerns which should be reported immediately as a safeguarding concern to internal communications area ‘Safeguarding’
  • To act swiftly and decisively when picking up on any safeguarding concern – record in internal communications area ‘Safeguarding’ and report to Designated Safeguarding Lead whilst (if applicable) maintaining communication with the learner
  • To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how learners learn and how this will impact on our approach, communication and the resources made available 
  • To encourage learners to engage with work and, for learners on a ‘seat’, to make use of EDSupport assistance and support
  • To give learners feedback, orally where applicable, and through marking, and encourage learners to respond to the feedback
  • To have clear rules and routines for behaviour, and take responsibility for promoting good and courteous behaviour
Skills required:Qualifications
- Good time management skills- English and Maths GCSE A*-C or equivalent – Essential
- Good data and analytical skills- Safeguarding knowledge and understanding – Essential
- Good knowledge of the education & skills sector- Confident in using ICT for a range or purposes – Essential
- Good report writing skills- PGCE or QTS qualification – Essential
- Excellent communication skills- Ability to encourage and support all pupils to do their best – Essential
- Good problem-solving skills- An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunity for all pupils – Essential
- Demonstrate high levels of resilience- Sound basic knowledge of SEN Code of Practice – Desirable
- Decision making skills- Experience of identifying any pupils who are vulnerable and communicating them through the school system - Desirable
