EDTeach: Live Online Breakout Classrooms

Targeted Live Teaching for Alternative Provision Pupils

Think of EDTeach as an online seminar or breakout classroom designed to extend and deepen the learning that takes place in EDLive – our live timetabled teaching and learning sessions module – for students on an EDClass seat.

Consider the teaching structure often used in higher education. Students would attend a lecture (EDLive) to gain foundational knowledge. Afterwards, they could attend a follow up seminar (EDTeach) to discuss the lecture content in more detail, ask questions, and explore the topic in a more interactive way.

EDTeach

EDTeach functions in a similar way, providing live, subject-specific and topic-specific breakout classrooms linked directly to the learners’ EDClass pathway, making each learner’s pathway unique and personalised to their needs.

The EDTeach live (breakout room) sessions are designed to be highly interactive. They are similar to seminars, where students engage in discussions, complete extension and differentiated learning tasks, and work collaboratively to evidence their understanding and reinforce previous learning. The teacher can adjust the difficulty of tasks, making them easier or harder to suit individual student needs.

Use EDTeach for Subject-specific Tutoring

EDTeach lessons are live teacher-led interactive follow-up sessions for students on an EDClass seat.

Extension Work

To stretch and challenge students a few days after an EDLive session, to see if they understood a key topic, theme or question.

Differentiated Learning

To provide tailored learning experiences for students at the same level, offering more one-to-one support and challenges.

Reinforce Learning

To evidence this shows unique progress and learning over time, which is great for intervention and reintegration strategies.

Live On-demand Assistance

To offer immediate support and clarification requested by a student during their learning.

Reminder or Catch-up Sessions

To act as a reminder or to help students, who may have missed a previous lesson, to catch up with their learning (these sessions are timetabled into the student's schedule).

Seamless Transitions for Student Support

If a student needs a break or pause in their learning for any reason – be it a safeguarding concern, a wellbeing need, or a requirement for extra SEND assistance – they can be seamlessly moved from the EDTeach classroom into either the EDSafe module (for safeguarding issues) or the EDNurture module (for nurture, well-being, or SEND support).

This on-demand flexibility ensures that students receive the right type of support at the moment they need it.

Comprehensive Tracking and Visibility

Everything that happens within the EDTeach sessions is meticulously tracked by the EDClass platform. This data is fully accessible to your establishment, providing valuable insights into student participation, understanding, and progress.
